Let me be the first to admit and say that I'm not a big fan of cats. I'm a dog person. Ive got a toy poodle named Chloe who I wouldn't change for the world. And with that off my chest I can also admit that I absolutely love theses kitty cat face flats! How ironic huh? They take me back to middle school when I would see the older "hipster" girls wearing the coolest pair of T.U.K cat face Mary Janes. If anyone remembers those? idk? But I always wanted a pair of my own just never really got around to it. Anyways, I saw a pair of Charlotte Olympia cat flats on a fashion blog one day and fell in love. I decided this was going to be my attempt at being that cool "hipster older girl"
that I always dreamed of. Except a little less cool.... and a little less hip..... So just a simple cat face stitched with gold thread on a classic black flat. How simple yet such a big statement. My first attempt at this D.I.Y I was determined to use thread..... But unfortunately that did not work out so well. So I reached over to my drawer, pulled out a gold nail polish and this is what I came up with.
You will need:
- Pair of Flats
- Gold Nail Polish
- Fabric chalk ( really anything you can draw with but will erase)
- A piece of duct tape ( for the ears)
- Needle and thread
- Scissors
First: Take your shoe and draw a guide of the face you would like. I used the fabric chalk to draw on it first and then used a thin nail polish brush to paint the face.
Second: Take the piece of duct tape to make the ears. I used duct tape because I felt it would withhold a bit more than a piece of fabric. Then you can use your same nail polish to color in the ear.
Third: Take your needle and thread, and you can begin to sew on the ears to the shoe. I decided to sew it on because I think it would also hold better. But of course you can use a hot glue gun as well.
